6 months update

Ahh it's been a while since I've jumped on here! Oscar has just turned 6 months on the 30th October - so since my last post, so much has happened with his development :))

He's such an active baby now! Always moving about and wanting to stand up. He's rolling over by himself and loving peek-a-boo games. He also loves me singing to him - I mean who wouldn't.

He's teething at the moment also, so it has been hard when he's restless. But most of the time he's such a happy and fun baby to be with - we are lucky he hasn't inherited my moany side lol

36 weeks

NB: Saw this unfinished post in my Drafts section - even though the dates won't match up I still wanted to post it up. It's funny reading it back, I had no clue then I was going to give birth at the end of that week!!

 - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

This week has been quite eventful! Work has been really good and not too busy, which I'm glad for! I've decided to finish up at the end of my 37th week instead of pushing it to the end of my 38th week. Who knows bubba might be here by then?!! I guess that's what main reason for changing the dates were - I really don't want to be far from home/at work and go into labour and also it will be good to have a few weeks off before he arrives so it's not going straight from work into baby duties.

Back to this week - we had our 36 week midwife appointment, it was all fine thankfully but they have recommended we see a consultant next Tuesday as they think bubba is measuring quite big. 41cms in fact! Where he should be about 2cms either side of 36, so 34 or 38cm? I'm not sure about all this because a lot of women have been measured before as 'big' and their babies have come out smaller than expected. But I'm glad they are keeping an eye on him - and we'll see if I will need to be induced or not?!

If I am induced and that's what's decided, then the decision is taken out of my hands of where to give birth. I won't be too disappointed I guess as I'm still in two minds where's the best place.

Hello Oscar

Bubba!! You are are here!! Safe and sound thank God!!
I went into labour on your Lola's birthday! The 29th April, but you put mummy through it and about 20hrs later you were born on Monday 30th April 2018, 00:58am.

You weighed 6lbs 130z - a big boy considering you were 3 weeks early!
But you were considered full term as you were born 37 weeks so all ok :)

You also have a name now :) We chose Oscar Jaxon for you and it suits you down to a T! You're the sweetest bubba but can be feisty lol Mummy & Daddy are loving getting to know you're sweet and funny personality - love you so much Bubba xxx

7 weeks postpartum

My my!! How time has flown! Only now - 7 weeks after my gorgeous bubba was born, have I been able to/feel up to updating this blog. So much has happened and I have learnt so much that it feels a lot longer than 7 weeks of living my new life as a mum.

Mum....still not quite used to being one, let alone being called one! It's crazy how you just have to get on with it as soon as you give birth. There's no break from it and it's completely overwhelming, but somehow it feels normal and somehow I just seem to know what I'm doing with him.

One day soon I'll write up my birth story - just to get it out in words for myself. It would be good to reflect on what happened and how I felt - it's a experience that will never happen the same again.

You can prepare yourself during pregnancy, prepare for the birth and labour etc but you can never ever prepare for the pain!! ahhhh lol to be continued.

3rd trimester update

As expected, this last trimester is taking its toll. I've experienced swollen feet/ankles when we had some hot weather recently. Also I had pain with a trapped nerve - which luckily free physio treatments at work sorted! And also (TMI) had a bit of a thing with a change in my discharge and then there's the frequency of bathroom trips going up! Oh yea - the constant pins and needles in my hands (carpel tunnel) haven't been nice either. Looking back - this trimester has been the most I've had to deal with in terms of pregnancy symptoms and difficulties, so I'm sure in the next few weeks I'll be ready for him to come already!!

Information overload?

So the courses/classes and appointments are happening thick and fast!!!
This week we've had our first antenatal and attended our hypnobirthing course. As this is my first pregnancy, (and I think as part of my nesting) I've gone into proper research mode and as I don't know what to expect, doing these classes and courses are helping me feel better prepared mentally which I think is super important.

My cousin told me there's no point with all this prep and just go with the flow and listen to the midwives. I get what she's saying and of course and I will do whatever the midwives think is right in regards to the health of my baby and I -  but I do still its important to try help the situation as much as I can. The type of person I am, I'm happier knowing that I've factored in all situations, options etc. And even though the labour/birth doesn't go how I planned/imagined, least I would feel a lot calmer knowing I did what I could to prepare for the big day πŸ™

More chat on how we got on with the courses/classes later - next week we have our 2nd antenatal class.

34 weeks update

As per my previous post - I've been spending the recent weeks planning our baby shower and it's been kinda distracting me from the fact that I'm 34 weeks now so that means I'm like 3 weeks away from what is considered full term!!! 3 weeks?!! wahhhht lol

So not much to report - other than I'm finding the belly in this 3rd trimester harder to lug around lol Walking is so much slower than usual and stairs are my enemy. My boss has been super nice though - he allows me to come in bit later so I can travel to work out of the rush hour and he's also said to leave work early if I ever needed to, so sweet! We haven't had the smoothest of work relationships but over the last year I think I've proven to him I'm a hard worker and committed to work and the department so gained back his respect and vice versa. Also he's recently told me he's expecting too, so I think that's soften him :D I 'm super chuffed for him, he'll make a great Dad :)

So even though I said there's nothing to report - I did have a little worry over some brown discharge (soz TMI) that I've never experienced before. So after a call to the midwives, they suggested we come in over the weekend to check it out. It was bit stressy because we had to do two trips as I forgot my hospital notes!! Lesson learnt!! But it was all fine - we are close to the hospital, there was no traffic and when we got back the 2nd time, we were seen quite quickly. The midwives were so nice as usual and after an hour of monitoring Bubba's movements and heart beat they sent us home with reassurance he was doing ok. πŸ™ They couldn't pinpoint what the change is discharge was - it could of been my mucus plug breaking down?! Meaning my body is preparing for the big day!

But I'm glad we came in though - you can never be too careful.

Our Bubba Shower!!

I'm looking back at the pics and vids of our baby shower at the mo, just cracking up!! It's a week today since we had the baby shower, time really is flying!!

It was such a fun day for us - we had such a lovely time celebrating with our wonderful friends & family. Everyone got into the games and we had activities for the kids too - it was a proper family affair :) Also everyone commented on how much fun they had, loved the venue and decor etc. so that made all the hard work putting everything together so much more worth it :)

I really loved seeing everyone together - pretty much most of the guests were present at our wedding so it was kinda like a reunion! Plus now they all have kids so our group is growing and I can't wait for Bubba to join in all the fun xxx

4D scan

It was an exciting weekend Bubba! Daddy and I went for a 4D scan to check-in on you and make sure you're doing ok. It's been a while since the 2nd scan so it was so lovely to see you again, especially in more detail. We got to see your face (kinda lol) - you were very makulit and hid your face with your hands and against my placenta for most of the time! lol The sonographer said you kept 'kissing' it!  It was a great experience though - we heard your strong heartbeat and they said you're head down and growing well. You're getting bigger, so I need to keep an eye on what I eat over the next few weeks, and not to add too much to those chubby cheeks of yours πŸ˜…πŸ˜˜

The Big H&M Haul

So the last two days have been fun! There's an H&M outlet near my work and I kinda went in :P
It wasn't hard too to be honest - its was 50% off, with an additional 50% off!!! I mean, some of the bits I got only cost £1.50!! 😱 So so chuffed!! Close-up shots to follow xx

All of this from the H&M outlet!

29/30 weeks

Soooo we're in the 3rd trimester?!!! 😱 I can't believe how quick it's come around! I think I've been quite lucky to have a good pregnancy so far. Other than stories from friends and families, I've had nothing to compare it too but I can honestly say I've enjoyed the experience so far!
I've been lucky not to have any morning sickness etc and the worst I've dealt with is tiredness and lack of mobility - oh and also the horrific hives incident in the first trimester, but I'll save that for another post!

This week I've been feeling super pregnant. My tummy is getting bigger, I'm feeling more tired and I feel my appetite increasing again. All good signs though I hope - means to me that bubba is growing even more so at these final stages πŸ’™πŸ™ We have out 4D scan next weekend and I'm very excited to see him again and maybe see some chubby cheeks xx

Baby Show 2018

Hello Bubba!! Love you xxx Last weekend was packed full of more baby love (which is pretty normal nowadays 😍). Saturday we spent time celebrating Ate Anaya's 2nd birthday and on Sunday we attended our first Baby Show! It was a lot of fun - we didn't go too crazy buying you stuff, but it was good to experience it with Daddy. We finally decided on the push chair we want to get you, attended a First Aid short class and also purchased your moses basket, hope you like sleeping in it :)

Check out the haul - those bottles were only mean to be 1 x per family but we obviously didn't pay attention to that! πŸ˜…

Tiba + Marl

Online shopping is the best!! Despite the weather I still managed to take advantage of the mid season sales and nab a Tiba + Marl x Mamas & Papas changing bag. It was £120 and reduced to £72 - such bargain I think! More pics to come, can't be arsed at the mo...lol

Snow Day!!!

It's the 1st March and it feels like its Xmas/December time all over again!! The UK has been hit with a really bad snow storm dubbed 'The Beast from the East'.

The storm is coming from Russia I think and is causing all sorts of havoc! London is just not equipped for severe weather - I've been trying to brave the week at work and traveling in despite the weather but decided it was safest to stay at home today. I didn't feel comfortable being outside knowing the roads will be very icy, my workmates told me even for them they were slipping and sliding during their commute into work! Also I nearly fell on Wednesday after losing my balance in the snow/ice so I wasn't going to risk it, it's not worth it!

Anyhoo - yesterday was a good day despite the weather, we had Bubba's 28 week midwife appt. It was a great appt, really nice midwife and nurses. The midwife said Bubba was measuring at 27 weeks and we also heard a good strong heart beat 😍

26 weeks + 3 days

Man it's been a busy busy week! Took some time off as Hubby is off also - but no rest for us unfortunately. Not only did I have to attend 3 x antenatal appointments this week, but we also went nursery furniture shopping and did maintenance work at flat (rental property).

I'm pleased as it's been a really productive week though - I'm trying to do as much prep as I can, while I'm not so 'big' and have the energy to still do so. That's the most frustrating thing I've found about pregnancy actually - not being as mobile as I'm used too and being restricted to do stuff for myself. But considering the stories I've heard - I should be grateful if that's my only gripe so far!

Your 1st kicks

Ahhh I saw you kick for the first time tonight Bubba 😍 And I love the feeling so much!!
So I've been feeling you move a lot lately and I'm getting used to feeling you move everyday - its been more like a rolling sensations/flutter feelings recently but tonight I actually saw my tummy poke out!! Not sure if that was your foot, or arm but as I said I love it so keep it up bubba, you're so makulit already!! hehe Love you xx

24 weeks

Wc 29th Jan - our 24th week Bubba :) Today I had the whooping cough vaccination and tomorrow I'll be seeing the GP for a check-up, fingers crossed all will be fine.

Also Daddy is back!! He's currently snoring away next to me lol. He's so tired from the 13hr straight flight and all the running around this am. As soon as I picked him up at the station, we went straight to the doctors and did some errands before we came home. So the snoring I don't mind - I'm just happy he's home safe and back with us now πŸ’•

Oh yea - and he bought you back loads of goodies from Fili! Clothes, blankets, bibs, mittens etc. It was so nice of him, as I wasn't expecting anything as I thought he wouldn't have the time. But I think it helped him get his mind off his Lola and he said he missed you a lot also xx

Lil' bubba haul

I'm not trying to go too crazy with the baby shopping but I have decided to start stocking up as and when I see good buys. TKmaxx came up trumps with these muslin cloths - pack of 3 of £4.99. Love the patterns - esp. the animal print one 😍

Also in TKmaxx I came across a new (well new to me) baby brand - all their clothes are 100% organic cotton and I noticed the brand as I was filing through the rails. The material I felt was so so soft and after a quick Google I found out just how good the brand was and how good the price was!

I got this baby grow, bib and hat all for £12.99 - if you check on the website, the baby grow alone retails at 29.95 au dollars! Love a bargain :)) I'll defo be looking out for this brand each TKmaxx trip!

Project Nursery - the softest rug ever!!

Another gem that we found in the sale! :))

I wanted a nice rug for the nursery - something fluffy and somewhat of a statement piece and this rug is actually perfection!! The picture doesn't show the color well but its a beautiful duck egg colour (obvs) and it really is the softest rug ever!! Can't wait for Bubba to enjoy it soon x

http://www.dunelm.com/product/duck-egg-jewel-shaggy-rug-1000082942

We love this rug so much that we actually have the same rug, but one size up and in the colour Silver in our living room - think I want one in our bedroom too now :/ lol
